Charles L. Boggs, 76, of Amarillo, died Sunday, April 1, 2001.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Soul's Harbor Church with the Rev. Freddie Richardson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd.

Mr. Boggs was born in Tamaha, Okla. He moved to Amarillo in 1972 from Merced, Calif. While living in Merced, he drove a school bus for the Merced Public School District more than 16 years. In Amarillo he was employed with the city of Amarillo Transit System as a bus driver until his retirement in 1989.

He served in the Army during World War II and received a Philippine Liberation ribbon with two Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Service Arrowhead and a Purple Heart.

He married Edna Spruill in 1989 at Amarillo. He was a member of Soul's Harbor Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Heatley in 1998.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Garvin Boggs of Sapulpa, Okla., Brian Boggs of Amarillo and Wayne Boggs of Granbury; five daughters, Shiela Bays of Fresno, Calif., Susan Donoghue and Rita McAnulty, both of Fort Worth, Brenda Post of Amarillo and Carla Smith of Lubbock; two brothers, Thomas Boggs of Tamaha and Jay Boggs of Stigler, Okla.; two sisters, Opal Ravisconi of Hanford, Calif., and Pat Haynes of Merced; 25 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Soul's Harbor Church or BSA Hospice.
