Vanessa confessed a love of Christ at an early age. She attended the Beautiful Zion Church under the leadership of Rev. J. W. Webb. She resided in Brooklyn, NY for twenty years and attended First Concord Baptist Church. As life led her back to Arkansas she remained an active member of Christian Mission Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor P. Curtis. Vanessa loved volunteering her services to the less fortunate by working in various soup kitchens and ministering. She was a graduate from Booker T. Washington in Norfolk, VA and received an associate degree in nursing.
Vanessa was united in holy matrimony to Willie Thomas and one child was born to this union, Andrea James. She later had three other children, Taisha, Norris and Markell Thomas. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, Mardaisha and Doz'Gshiea Moore, Saa' Nouris Spencer and the late Mathias Moore.
Vanessa is preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Mathias Moore, and two brothers, Michael Jenkins, and Sherman Jenkins.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her children, four sisters, Dianne Olloway-Brown, Brenda Jenkins, Lisa Jenkins, and Melissa Jenkins-Taylor all of Memphis, TN, brothers, Larry Ashwood of Chesapeke,VA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
