FREDERICK DEAN CARTER
(1935~2018)

Frederick Dean Carter, 82, of Ravenswood, West Virginia passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018. He was born September 26, 1935, in Blue Jay, Raleigh County, West Virginia. He is a son of the late Frederick Chester Carter and Sylvia Arminta Lea Ransom Carter.

Dean graduated from Shady Spring High School in 1953. He was employed in the printing business all his life, working for the Beckley Register-Herald, Star Printing and Ravenswood News of Ravenswood, Banner Printing of Parkersburg and Lightpoint Publishing of Parkersburg. He retired in February 2007.

Dean was very active in the Ravenswood community as a member of First United Methodist Church, Ashton Masonic Lodge #12, Dowell Commandry #28, Jackson Chapter R.A.M. 48, and the Adopt-A-Family program for nearly 50 years. He has also been active in Ravenswood Jaycees, Ravenswood High School Band Boosters, Ohio River Festival Committee, Ravenswood High School Parent Advisory Committee, and as church liaison for Boy Scouts of America Troop 43. He was also honored with the International Order of the Rainbow Girls Grand Cross of Color.

Dean enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family and friends

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Stephanie Ann Carter, and a son, Gregory Dean Carter.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of nearly 58 years; two daughters; a daughter-in-law; two sisters; a brother; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; eleven step-grandchildren; two step-great-great granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services: Saturday April 21, 2018, at 3 pm at the First United Methodist Church, 719 Flinn Street, Ravenswood, with Reverend Ken Peters and Reverend Karin Ritchie officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Ravenswood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors in celebration of Dean's life on Friday, April 20, 2018, from 4-8 PM at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to First United Methodist Church.
