Willie was born on September 3, 1922 to William W. Magee and Stella Floy Bearden in Oglesby, Texas. After graduating from the National Business School, she traveled to the Pentagon where she met and married Everts Reed "Bucky" Buchanan of Grand Island, Nebraska in 1949. Willie and Bucky were sweethearts for 52 years. Most notably Willie was a stenographer at the Neuremburg trial and an award-winning artist. She also attended Parkwood Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Silas and Jack Magee, sisters Marcelle Baudoux, Evelyn Powell and Rosalyn Magee; as well as a niece, Nancy Cook.
Survivors include her sons William R. Buchanan and Ronald R. Buchanan; grandchildren Mark R. Buchanan, Kevin R. Buchanan and Mary E. Buchanan; nieces, Paula Baudoux, Marilyn Pound and Nancy Cook; and nephews, John C. Baudoux and Jack Magee, Jr.
