Professional Football Player. A native of Thrall, Texas, Todd played football in high school and for Texas A&M University before being drafted to play professionally. As a fullback, quarterback, and halfback, Todd played a total of nine professional football seasons, mainly with the National Football League's Washington Redskins (1939 to 1948). His total NFL career consisted of 1573 yards and 11 touchdowns rushing, 1826 yards and 20 touchdowns receiving, and scoring two touchdowns on punt returns. During the Second World War, he served in the United States Navy. After his 1948 retirement he served as football coach at Texas A&M in 1949, and for nine games with the Washington Redskins in 1951; he amassed a 5-4 record with the latter. He was later fired from that post.
