Robert was born in Clackmannan, Clackmannanshire, Scotland. His mother Catherine (nee Anderson) died shortly after his birth and he was raised by a stepmother Jane White. He was the youngest of 9 children. His uncle and brothers emigrated to New Zealand in 1872. His stepmother died in 1888 and his father Thomas died April 10, 1892. On May 10, 1892 he left Scotland and immigrated to America arriving June 7, 1892 at Philadelphia on the ship Manitoban. He left behind a brother John in Edinburgh who died October 7, 1892. Robert was a painter.

Robert first appears as a painter, 22 Christian St. in the 1896 Philadelphia city directory. During 1904 and 1905 he lived at 2307 N. 30th St. This was an address of a grocery store where he worked. In 1905 he was listed as a clerk.

In 1906 he married Mary Ella Kiehl at Haddonfield, New Jersey. During 1906 and 1907 he lived at 2907 Diamond St. in Philadelphia. During 1909 and 1910 he lived at 2921 Diamond St. 1911 and 1912 he lived at 2907 Susquehanna Ave.

From 1907 to 1912, Robert and Mary had four girls. A baby boy died stillborn in 1911.

In October 1920 the family purchased a home at 1449 N. 29th St.

Robert was very nice and used to go to work every day wearing a suit and hat. He worked at Hahnemann Hospital as a painter for years. He liked cats and children. He disliked the Queen and his stepmother. Robert belonged to the Odd Fellows and various Masonic lodges.

Robert died of a stroke after listening to the famous Joe Louis vs. Billy Conn fight on the radio.

BAUCHOP. - Suddenly, June 18, 1941, ROBERT, beloved husband of Mary Ella (nee Kiehl). Relatives and friends, also Geo. W. Kendricks Lodge No. 690, F. & A. M., and all other organizations of which he was a member are invited to attend funeral services, Mon., 2 P. M., at his late residence, 1449 N. 29th st. Viewing Sun. aft. 7 P.M. Int. Arlington Cem.
