Ernest S. Black Jr. 86 of Altoona went home to be with the Lord Wednesday April 18, 2018 at the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center following an extended illness.
Ernest was born on January 1, 1932 in Altoona son of the late Ernest Sr. and Pauline (Baith) Black.
Ernest was first married to Dorothy Alma Black in 1954 until her passing on February 24, 2002, he then married Jane Medasie on August 14, 2004 and she survives.
In addition to his wife, Ernest is survived by 1 daughter- Judy A. Beam and her husband Robert of Altoona and by 1 son- Michael J. Black and his wife Vesta of Altoona. Also surviving at 2 step sons- David and Johnathan Feather and Ernests sister- Margaret Gairth. 3 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren and 1 step great granddaughter. Ernest was a member of New Hope Baptist Church Duncansville, he was a Supervisor of the Parks Department for the City of Altoona retiring in 1995, a 1950 graduate of Altoona Area High School, a US. Army veteran, and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening.
Friends will be received from 2p.m. until the 4p.m. funeral service Saturday April 21, 2018 at The Good Funeral Home Inc. with Rev. Matthew Smart officiant.
Interment will be in Alto Reste Park Cemetery.
