Joshua Wadsworth, one of Moline's oldest and most respected citizens, died in that city Sunday afternoon.

Mr. Wadsworth was born in Litchfield, Maine, January 2, 1816, and was the ninth of a family of eleven children, only two of whom are now living. His parents were Quakers and his father was the sixth descendent of one of two brothers who came to Duxbury, Mass., in 1632. Mr. Wadsworth was a direct descendent of Oliver Walcott, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, and also of Peregrine White, the first white child born in America. Both of his grandfathers served in the Revolutionary war.

He was a resident of Davenport from 1876 to 1879, when he moved to Moline. Mr. Wadsworth was a graduate of an Ohio medical college, but did not practice medicine very extensively.

The funeral was held this afternoon from the Congregational church, Rev. Deane, of Monmouth, officiating.
