Born Jan. 1, 1917, in Cincinnati, he was the son of John and Catherine (Cotton) Martin. He married Anna Urk on Feb. 3, 1940, at St. Pius Catholic Church in Cincinnati, and she preceded him in death on July 30, 1990.
The World War II U.S. Army veteran was a 35-year bricklayer in the southeastern Indiana and Cincinnati areas. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Morris.
He is survived by three sons, Thomas Martin and Gerald Martin, both of Sunman, and Richard Martin of Harrison, Ohio; two sisters, Catherine Eckstein of Batesville and Charlotte Moorman of Cincinnati; one brother, Patrick Martin of Sunman; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and John Martin.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Morris, the Rev. Bernard Schmitz officiating.
Burial will be at the St. Anthony Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the Ripley County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3183 and Prell-Bland American Legion Post 271, Batesville.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today with a Rosary service at 5:30 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville.
Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church.
