Belva Jean Smith, 84, of Del City, Oklahoma took her last earthly breath and first heavenly breath on April 16, 2018. She was born December 9, 1933 to Maurice Mayfield Shupe and Irma Theloris Seward in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Belva enjoyed her career as a legal secretary and as a secretary to the city manager of the city of Del City until her retirement. She then pursued a career as an artist, dabbling in a variety of art media. She was an extremely talented painter. Belva was an expert crossword puzzler and enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, feeding the birds, and flower gardening. She could nurse any living creature back to health. Belva was an avid reader, especially enjoying mysteries. Her favorite authors were Lee Child and Oklahoma author, Sheldon Russell. She saved a dachshund that she named Eddie in 2006 and the two of them were inseparable until her last moments on earth. She loved spending time on her Kindle and Facebook, writing poetry, and doing anything accompanied by her daughter, granddaughter, and great granddaughter.

Belva is survived by her daughter, Rene’ Mateo & husband, Bob, of Midwest City, OK, son, Dave Duncan & wife, Terri, of San Antonio, TX, Rick Furmanek & wife, Robin, of Gilbert, AZ, son, Ted Smith & wife, Sam, of Bethany, OK, and daughter, Tricia Bailey & husband, Steven, of Saginaw, TX. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Jess Haskett & husband, Scott, grandson, David Bruehl & wife, Alina, granddaughter Treisa Denwalt & husband, Dewayne, grandson, Marcus Mateo, granddaughter, Sheryn Bruehl, granddaughter Krystle Arndt, & husband Alan, granddaughter Lindsay Elizabeth, grandson, Seth Furmanek & wife, Savannah, granddaughter, Shay Beck, grandson, Rusty Smith & wife, Kelli, granddaughter, Sarah Alexander & husband, Rick, grandson, Ryan Bailey, and grandson, Jason Bailey. Belva is also survived by her great grandchildren, Molly, Zeke, Abe, Kelsey, Dalton, Carson, Maggie, Justin, Montana, Katelli, Jaden, and Grayson. She is also survived by her brother, Paul Shupe & wife Barbara, of Florida and her best friend, Glenda Mullins of Oklahoma City, OK. She leaves behind many beloved family members and friends. Special thanks to her wonderful neighbors, Al & Donja Coronado, Danny Smith, and Ron Glass for always looking out for her and for all the help you’ve given she and Charley over the years. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Don Shupe, and her husband, Charles Herman Smith.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 21, 2018 from 10am to 8pm at Bill Eisenhour Southeast, 5005 SE 29th, Del City, Oklahoma 73115. A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 2:00pm, at Sunset Memorial Chapel, 2301 East Indian Hills Rd., Norman, Oklahoma 73071.
