"DEATH OF M'ME DESLONDE.
The older inhabitants of Louisiana, and especially the members of ancient Creole families, will be distressed at the announcement of the death of M'me Rosine Deslonde, widow of Andre Deslonde, which occurred at her residence on Esplanade street, on Sunday, the 19th inst., at 8 o'cloack, P.M. Her maiden name was Chastant. She and her sister, afterwards Mrs. Brandegee, were noted belles and leaders in Creole society about the time of the close of the late war with Great Britain, being accomplished, wealthy and singularly beautiful. During her life, which reached the period of seventy-four years, to M'me Deslonde was conceded a leading influence and the highest esteem in social circles. This rank was well deserved, for she was a lady of exceeding sweetness of temper, of unbounded charities, peculiarly free from prejudices, pious, hospitable, an excellent mother, a devoted wife, a steadfast friend. Hospitality to her was not merely a duty imposed by her wealth and position, but a labor of love, her aim being to make all happy who came within her sphere. Her memory will be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to be her guests, and her name will be blessed for the good and noble lessons taught by her charities.
M'me Deslonde was the mother of a numerous family, among whom are Mrs. P. Amadee Guyol, Mrs. R. W. Adams and Mrs. J. M. Seixas, as were also the late Mrs. John Slidell and the late wife of Gen. Beauregard. Having also several sons, her death will be mourned by very many of her descendants."

An obituary was also published in L'Avant-Coureur, issue of 25 Feb 1871, p 1, noting that Mrs. Deslonde spent most of her life in St John the Baptist Parish, LA, and had moved to New Orleans in 1862. She was interred in St John the Baptist Church Cemetery, Edgard, LA.
