Peggy was born in Farmville, NC on April 3, 1936 to the late Albert Bennett Mewborn and Edith Teel Mewborn. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, M. Lindsay Carroll, as well as brothers, Al Mewborn and Robert Mooring, sister, Mary Jo Mooring and her favorite "Aunt Sarah" Edwards. Peggy will be missed by her children, daughter, Bennie Carroll Jones (Eddie) and son, Mason Lindsay Carroll III (Coleen), sister, Sarah Edwards and brother, Richard Mooring. She was especially proud of her two grandsons, Win Jones (Jennifer) and Mason Jones (fiancee Amanda Blomquist). Peggy was blessed to know her great-granddaugher, Selma Lindsay Jones.
Peggy spent her life as a devoted wife, mother and sister. She volunteered extensively during earlier years. She was an avid reader and Panthers fan. She cherished the view from her deck on Lake Norman. Peggy spent her summers growing up at Atlantic Beach, NC and attended Meredith College. She and Lindsay cherished the lifelong friendships that they made with his fraternity brothers and friends at NCSU. She will also be missed by their very special friends, she lovingly called "The Groupies."
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Charlotte on Friday, August 19 at 1:00 pm. Visitation with the family will be held from 11:45 - 12:45 at Trinity Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Novant Health Hospice, P. O. Box 33549, Charlotte, NC 28233 or the public library of your choice. The family is especially grateful to Peggy's neighbors for their close watch over her and to Hospice for the comfort provided to her.
