Denise was born October 21, 1960 in Springfield, the daughter of Ralph J. and Josephine Murphy Frank.
Denise graduated from New Berlin High School in 1978. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University in Law Enforcement/Administration/Psychology and her master’s degree from the University of Illinois in Social Work. She was employed by the Youth Service Bureau for 13 years, Family Service Center for 7 years, and the Department of Child and Family Services since 2006. Denise enjoyed fishing, reading, watching Tyler play basketball, driving, and camping.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dennis Frank.
She is survived by her son, Tyler Lester of Springfield; partner, Susan Hoskins of Springfield; brothers, Michael (wife, Karen) Frank of Springfield and Charles (wife, Charlotte) Frank of Polo; sister-in-law, Charlene Frank of Springfield; grandchildren, Steven Hoskins, Mat Hoskins, Tony Lester and Sarah Lester all of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
While she never married or had any children of her own, Denise was blessed with the family of her partner, Susan Hoskins. Everyone called her grandma, or mother, despite sharing no blood…what did it matter? She was family in every way that mattered. Denise was the matriarch, the voice of reason, the helping hand, and the solid rock. She worked her whole life making not only her adopted families lives better, but through her work for DCFS she strived to make everyone she met as happy as she could.
Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Graveside Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Roselawn Memorial Park, 1735 S. Camp Butler Rd., Springfield.
