James Floyd Scarbrough, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018, at Memorial Hospital Hixson, following a brief illness, at the age of 56.

Preceded in death by his father, Carl R. Scarbrough,

Jim will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Mary (Charlie) Scarbrough and by his sister Carol (Steve) Newton. He will also be forever remembered by his niece Wendy (Daniel) Nesmith and his great nephews Benjamin and Jonathan Nesmith.

A native of Hixson, Jim attended the University of Tennessee and proudly served in the United States Navy. He spent his career in jobs serving the public, from his years spent caring for patients at Memorial Hospital Hixson and other healthcare facilities, to his most recent employment as a sales associate at Southeastern Salvage. He was a warm and funny man who was happiest working with people and will be fondly remembered by many of those whose lives he touched. Apart from his family, Jim was passionate about UT football, a life-long love shared with his father. He also loved nature and was a walking encyclopedia on animals and wildlife of all kinds. His greatest source of peace was spending time on the water fishing and enjoying God’s creation.

A graveside Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 20, at 10:00 a.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Ave., Chattanooga, TN.
