Sara Jewell Reid Cochran, age 84, of the Worthville Community of Butts County passed away Monday, April 16, 2018 at the home of her daughter in Jenkinsburg,
She was born July 7, 1933 in Morgan County, Georgia to Burnie and Mattie Lou Studdard Reid. She graduated from Newton County High School Class of 1950.
She was employed for many years at Fashion Pillows in Jackson before her retirement.
Jewell was a longtime faithful member of Worthville Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Henry County Schrinette Club.
She was married to Harold Cochran for almost 64 years before his death in 2015 and was also predeceased by a daughter, Cathye Cochran Compton in 2008.
Survivors include two daughters, Gail Burford and husband David of Jenkinsburg and Debbie Cochran of Jackson; four granddaughters, Carin Burford of Hoover, AL, April Watson and Brian of Jay, FL, Sara Conley and Gordan of Jacksonville, FL, and Lauren Compton of Defuniak Springs, FL; four great grandchildren, Bray and Brett Watson of Jay, FL and Katelynn and Logan Baird of Navarre, FL.
Funeral services for Jewell Cochran will be held Thursday, April 19 at 11:00AM at Worthville Baptist Church. Pastor Dale Davis will officiate with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 PM Wednesday evening and at other times at the home of David and Gail Burford in Jenkinsburg.
