woman with the traits of features and vivacity of character of
her father's race, and was a lady of a most amiable ad
affectionate disposition. Her father, Laurent Clerc was a French
gentleman who returned to Hartford, Ct with Mr. Thomas H.
Gallaudet from France and one of the founders and teachers of
the Deaf and Dumb Asylum in Hartford. Both of Sara's parents
were deaf mutes.
