Lexington - Services for Herbert "Papa" Shuler, 80, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Red Bank Baptist Church, conducted by the Reverend Robert "Butch" Powell, with burial in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Red Bank Baptist Church Building Fund. Visitation will be from 5:30-7:30 this evening at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Mr. Shuler died Thursday, Decmeber 21, 2000. Born in St. Matthews, he was a son of the late Tarlton Cuttino and Stella Frances Foxworth Shuler. He served with the U.S. Army, Battery "B," 724th Field Artillery Battalion during World War II. Campaigns included Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. Mr. Shuler was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church where he was a former deacon. He was a former member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Florence and was a charter member of Eastover Hunting Club. Mr. Shuler retired from Jeff Hunt Machinery and Becker Sand and Gravel. Surviving are wife, Myrtle D. Shuler, Lexington; daughters, Janice S. Scircle and Glenda S. Lucas, both of Lexington; sister, Ruby Prosser, Eastover; grandchildren, Sonia Durham, Rhett Scircle, Stacie Neeley, William and Craig Lucas; six great-grandchildren. © The State, Columbia, SC, 22 Dec 2000
