Joe David Payne, age 82, went to be with his Lord on April 16, 2018.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Quitaque, with interment following at Resthaven Cemetery in Quitaque. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 18, 2018. Arrangements are under the care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Quitaque.

Joe was born on December 1, 1935 in Gasoline, Texas to Archie and Coye Payne. He married Janis Ann Russell on August 4, 1935 in Plainview, Texas where he spent most of his life barbering. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golf, but most of all, spending time with his family.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents Archie Winford and Coye Willie Patrick Payne; daughter Joanie Payne; brothers Jerry Don Payne and Archie Winford Payne, Jr., and sisters Evelyn Francis (Sis) Payne, and Margie Payne George.

He is survived by his loving wife Janis of 61 years, brothers Henry Payne and wife Janet of Amarillo, Texas; Stan Payne and wife Denice of Floydada, Texas; children Jana Penka and husband Michael of Planview, Texas, Neil Payne and wife Denee of Andover, Kansas, and Lana Turner and husband Mike of Lubbock, Texas; six grandchildren Kaci Howerton and husband John, Annie Gonzales and husband Frankie, Jared Payne, Evan Payne and wife Brittany, and Emily Payne, all of Lubbock, Texas, and Joanie Reecer of Idledale, Colorado. Five great grandchildren Raiven Anderson, Qiryn Anderson, Natalie Gonzales, and baby boy Gonzales due in June, all of Lubbock, Texas; Brooklynn Payne of Wolfforth, Texas, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
