He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and was a Veteran of the US Navy having served during World War II as an officer. Kyle had retired from Eastman Kodak where he had worked as a chemical engineer. He was a member of Bridwell Heights Presbyterian Church where he had served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and church treasurer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Virginia Ashby King; son, Terry King; parents, Frank and Zella King; and 5 siblings.
