She worked at Western Union and Nabisco before getting married to her husband George. Together they had eight children.

Like many people, Mary's life had its ups and downs. She lost her husband George when she was 44 and had to raise eight children on her own. After some years she met and dated Dan O'Donnell but lost him after he passed away due to an illness. Later she met and married Jack Sheridan but also lost him a few years when he passed away. Throughout her life and despite her small stature Mary was a very strong woman and never complained. She was a fun loving, jovial, friendly, outgoing person. She belonged to many social groups during her life such as Catholic Daughters, Saint Katharine Drexel Ladies Auxiliary and Saint Anselm's seniors.
