Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Tuesday April 17, 2018 at First General Baptist Church (2825 S. Baltimore Avenue Decatur, Il. 62521). A private family burial will be in Graceland Cemetery Wednesday morning. A Memorial Service to celebrate Ted’s life will be held 11:00 am. Wednesday at the church. Pastor Randall Garrett will officiate. Memorials may be made to Cancer Care Specialist of Central Illinois. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.
He was born November 30, 1938 in Quincy, IL to Fred and Orvetta Barnes. In 1942 the family moved to Decatur. He was educated in Decatur public schools, never missing a day. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1956.
He enjoyed playing softball, golfing, bowling, making cabinets and formica tops, restoring antique items and his Model T. Ted was inducted into the Decatur Bowling Hall of Fame in 2016. He retired after 25 years in sales from WAND in 2008. He got to see his CUBS win the World Series and enjoyed going to Spring Training in Mesa.
In 2008, he married Carol Thomas. He leaves his wife, three sons Jeff – Decatur, Rick (Cindy) Maroa and Ken (Lisa) Atlanta, IL, sister Joanne Decatur, one step son Mike Thomas (Bunny) Mt. Zion, mother-in-law Georganna Bailey (Decatur), sister-in-law Jane Ryan (Decatur), brother-in-law Jim (Terry) Bailey, five grandchildren, one great grandson, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
