Robert Lowell Jones, age 73, of Neches, Texas died April 10, 2007. Burial in Neches City Cemetery was under direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home, Palestine. He was born Oct. 5, 1933, in Fort Worth to the late Caleb and Lizzie Fields Jones. He was a homicide detective with Fort Worth Police Department for 20 years and served two terms as president of the Fort Worth Police Officers Association. He then moved to East Texas and was a rural mail carrier for the Postal Service in Palestine for 20 years. He also operated Jones Carpet Company for 21 years. He was a member of Norwood Heights Baptist Church of Palestine. He was preceded in death by son, Robert Jones; grandsons, Robert Lowell Jones II; and brothers, Vernon, Marvin and Cecil Jones. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Floyedelle Jones, Neches; daughter, Susie Moss, Aransas Pass; son, John Paul Jones, Arlington; sister, Mary Lois Gardner, Fort Worth; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
