Mars Hill - Shelby Gaither Ray, 88, passed from this life Monday, April 9, 2007, to another to be with his son, Terry Lynn Ray; his parents, Elbert Porter and Ollie Briggs Ray; brothers, Ira and Lloyd Ray; and sister, Frieda Ray Robinson. Mr. Ray retired from Wachovia at age 65.
He was a member of Middle Fork Baptist Church. Shelby was a 50 year Mason with Bald Creek Masonic Lodge #397 AF&AM.

Surviving is his wife, Betty Robinson Ray; sons, Stephen Toby Ray, Edward Ray and wife, Sheri, Dean Ray and wife, Tomeca, John Ray and Ronnie Ray and wife, Clara; sister, Henrietta Walker of Bradenton, Fla.; grandchildren, Noah Ray and his mother, Misty Doan, Leigh Anne Ray, Shawn Ray, Julia Moore and husband, Russ, Josh Ray, Tori and Tanner Ray and Tony King; two great-grandchildren, Russell and Ryland Moore; nephew, Larry Robinson and wife, Patsy; nieces, Geraldine and Oren Wilkie, Caroline and Clay Thelan; and greatniece, Virginia Gentry.
The Rev. Ted Richardson will officiate. Shelby will be greatly missed by his friends and all his family.
