Myrtle Elizabeth Surber Talbert, age 94, passed away on April 14, 2018 at Valley Health Care in Chilhowie, Va.

She was born March 19, 1924 in Saltville, VA, and was the daughter of the late Charles Cleveland and Lula Chapman Surber. Myrtle resided at her home in Upper Poor Valley and at her niece, Joyce Chapman's residence in the Watson’s Gap area of Saltville. She was a member of the McCready United Methodist Church and had many friends at Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church. She loved flowers and animals, especially her cats.

Beside her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Quinten Mitchell Talbert, and brothers Willard A. Surber, Glenford A. Surber, and Garland Surber.

Surviving are caretakers, Joyce Surber Chapman and Beth Haycraft, nephew Charles "Butch" Surber and wife Mildred Surber and many other nieces and nephews. Also special friends and family Mary Talbert, Wilbur Holmes, Lena Pauley, Dwight Tolbert and Vanessa Tolbert-Ercelino.

Graveside services for Myrtle Surber Talbert will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday April 18, 2018 in the Mount Rose Mausoleum with Pastor James Gentry officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 noon prior to the service. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
