Born January 21, 1947, in Butte, Montana, he was a son of the late Robert Earl Thurmond, Sr., and Faye Nail Thurmond Sorini. Also preceding him in death was sister Susan Sorini Wong, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Bob is survived by his daughter Lindsey Thurmond who resides in Redondo Beach, California.
Bob left Montana in his youth for a career in show business. His first work included touring with the Disney On Ice show, and then the Rolling Stones. After touring, he began working in television on a long list of shows, close to 40 for the next 40 years, including: All in the Family, the Jeffersons, Maud, Baby Talk, Different Strokes, One Day at a Time, One on One, KTTV, and Rules of Engagement. Lindsey was able to work with him on the Rules show, as an on-camera extra and production assistant. He worked on over 20 Special Event shows including: Bob Hope, Ann Margaret, Barbara Mandrell, Bett Midler, Dick Clark Productions, Diana Ross, George Burns, John Ritter, Master Piece Theatres, Smoky Robinson, the Smothers Brothers, and the Oscars.
Bob loved the business but decided to retire a few years ago to spend more time relaxing with friends during his summers in Montana.
