Born January 4, 1944 in Pekin to Harold and Ruth (Wells) Cross, he married Annie Mae Morris in Pekin. They later divorced.
Surviving are his son, Kenneth Munson of Tenseness; one daughter, Brenda Munson of Missouri; several grandchildren; one sister, Connie Cross of Pekin; one brother, Harold Cross of Tremont; 19 nieces and nephews, including a special nephew and his caregiver, Kelly Price of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kevin Cross; one brother, Ronald “Buck” Cross and four sisters, Mary Shepherd, Neva Evans, Janet Smithee and Bonnie Bush.
Earl was a former member of the Laborer’s Local 231 in Pekin and formerly had attended Zion Baptist Church in Pekin.
A man with a true genuine heart, Earl, known by many as “Uncle Tom” enjoyed his daily walks to the gas station to get his Pepsi. He would occasionally stop along the way and give the local kids money for candy.
Earl was loved by all and will be truly missed by many.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. James C. McClarey will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
