Edgar Junior Dunn

NORTHPORT - Edgar Junior Dunn, age 75, of Northport, Ala., passed away on April 13, 2018 at home of congestive heart failure. Services will be Tuesday, April 18, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home with Pastor Rusty Solman and Bro. Jerry Montgomery officiating and Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2018, at Sunset Funeral Home.

He is preceded in death by his son, Ricky Lee Dunn, Step children Cathie Banks and Duane Banks, his father and mother, 5 brothers, and 5 sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Mary L. Dunn; son, Steven J. Dunn (Nichole); Roy Richard Banks (Glenda); grandchildren, Brie, Abby, Jarrett, John Riley and Jace Dunn; step-grandchildren, Beth Collins (Tom), Victoria Cockrell (Clint), Natasha McCarver (Bill), Valerie Turley (George), Donna Hayes (Mike) and Rachel Banks; step-great-grandchildren, Leigha, Dawson, Dyllan Savage, Anna Grace, Andrew Herren, Haley, Morgan and Brennen McCarver, Emily Banks and Nathan Taggart; brother, Loyd Dunn (Linda); sister, Grace Gay; and daughter-in-law, Tammy Dunn Smith.

Junior was a wonderful husband, father, Paw Paw, and friend. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 37 years, his family and many friends. He was a member of Phillips Chapel Church and retired from B. F. Goodrich in 2002.

Junior enjoyed fishing and had many fish stories to tell. But most of all he enjoyed playing softball and was a great player, hitting runs in all the games he played. He was inducted into West Alabama Softball Hall of Fame in 2002.

Pallbearers will be Jarrett Dunn, Dawson Savage, Tom Collins, Clint Cockrell, Dewey Falls, M. L. Burroughs, Charlie Aultman and Deuel McBride.

Honorary pallbearers are: Joe Shadwrick, Bill McCarver, Dale Banks, Billy Lawrence, Mike Lee, Larry Turner. Members of Northwood Hills Baptist Church, Grace Sunday school class.

Special thanks for Amedisys Hospice's people, who took such good care of Junior, Candice Muniz, Crystal, April, Damon Rose, Daphne Tice and others.
