Doris B. Cofer, 88, Waterford, died at 3:05 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 1998 at Red Oaks Healthcare Center. Cremation will take place with burial of ashes at Pine Lake Cemetery. The Carlisle Funeral Home, Michigan City, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Cofer was born Sept. 17, 1909 in Coolspring Township, the daughter of Ernest B. and Lena Thompson Cross.On Jan. 1, 1927, in Michigan City, she married Ralph S. Cofer who preceded her in death.
Surviving are a daughter, June Doris Euler, Michigan City; a special pen pal of 75 years, Hazel Mauer, Manteno, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Carol Hennard, Michigan City. She was preceded in death by three sons, Loren, Roger and Ralph Cofer Jr.; three brothers, Lester, Fay and Owen Cross and one sister, Lola Gloye. Mrs. Cofer was a homemaker. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
