HARLAN -- Richard “Dick” Sciranko, Sr., 78, Harlan, died April 13 at his home.

Services were held Monday, April 16 at 1 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Harlan with burial in the Jacksonville Cemetery at Jacksonville. A visitation and luncheon were held Monday from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the church.

Sciranko is survived by his wife, Sandra Sciranko, of Harlan; sons Kevin (Amy Reafleng) Sciranko of Shenandoah and Richard “Rick” (Sue) Sciranko, Jr. of Elk Horn; brother Harold (Vera) Sciranko of Beford, PA; sister Florence Zimmerman of Bedford; sister-in-law Eileen Sciranko of Bedford; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan was in charge of arrangements.

Richard Lee Sciranko Sr., 78
Dec. 16, 1939 - April 13, 2018

HARLAN – Richard Lee Sciranko Sr., son of Andrew and Irene (Roudabush) Sciranko, was born December 16, 1939 in Manns Choice, PA. He graduated from Bedford High School in Bedford, PA and attended Grace College of the Bible in Omaha, NE.

On March 25, 1960, Dick was united in marriage to Sandra Miller in Bedford, PA. Two sons were born to this union: Kevin and Richard, Jr “Rick”.

During his career Dick spent some time as an insurance salesman, grocery store manager, business owner and small engine mechanic. He was ordained in 1975 and followed his passion of guiding others to Christ, pastoring in four churches. He retired to Harlan in 2014.

Dick never met a stranger, he loved people and was quick to tell a joke, he even wrote a book about it. He loved guns, camping, hunting and a good dog of which he has owned a few.

Dick died at his home in Harlan on Friday, April 13, 2018, attaining the age of 78 years, three months, and 28 days.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his siblings Charles Sciranko, Shirley Zimmerman, brothers-in-law Dewey Zimmerman and Clifford Zimmerman.

Richard is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sandra Sciranko of Harlan; sons Kevin Sciranko and his wife Amy Reafleng of Shenandoah; Richard “Rick” Sciranko Jr. and his wife Sue of Elk Horn; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother Harold Sciranko and his wife Vera; sister Florence Zimmerman; sister-in-law Eileen Sciranko all of Bedford, PA; nieces and nephews; other family members and friends.

A 1 p.m. funeral service was officiated by Pastor Chad Hol and Pastor Dan Cox on Monday, April 16, 2018 at Grace Baptist Church in Harlan. Andrew Sciranko, Daniel Sciranko, Dakota Oldham, Michael Sciranko, Philip Sciranko and David Sciranko served as casket bearers. Interment was held at Jacksonville Cemetery in Jacksonville. Pauley Jones Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
