Ellen "Bebe" Daniel Mason, 77, wife of Dr. J. Lorin Mason, Jr., died at home Sunday, May 8, 2016 after a prolonged battle with Pick's Disease. Born in Mullins, SC, she was the daughter of Margaret Snow and William Henry Daniel, III. She was a 1959 graduate of Salem College and received her degree in Nursing from Florence Darlington Technical College in 1983, after which she worked as a hospice nurse throughout the Pee Dee. In addition to being a devoted wife, loving mother and generous friend, Mrs. Mason was an accomplished seamstress, an elegant hostess and perhaps the finest household engineer in history. She had the rarest of feminine gifts, great physical beauty matched in quality by her heart and soul.
She is survived by her husband, Lorin, daughter Snow Knoester & husband Martijn, their children Olivia, Julian and Zoë, of Gerrards Cross, UK, daughter Elizabeth Smith & husband Manning of Pawleys Island, son Dr. Julian Mason & wife Julie, their daughters Jordan and Madison, of Florence. Also surviving are her siblings Nancy & Bob Mottern of Mullins, Jean & Edwin Allen of Florence, Buck & Betsy Daniel of Columbia and her sister in law, Sally Maynard of Richmond, Virginia and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services shall be held at 3:00 pm, Friday May 13 at St. John Episcopal Church in Florence. The family will receive guests afterwards and at other times at their home, 184-1 Red Rose Blvd in Pawleys Island.
