Paula was born on June 10, 1946 in Wauseon, Ohio to the late Paul and Betty (Shaffer) Connin, she married William “Bill” Stewart Sr., on December 14, 1996 in the Rossford United Methodist Church and he survives her in Maumee.
Along with her husband Bill, Paula is survived by her sons: Seth (Ashley) Hojnacki, of Albany, New York; William (Lisa) Stewart Jr., of Newbury Park, California; a sister: Pamela “Pam” (Ralph) Zimmerman, of Delta, Ohio; nieces: Michelle (Mike) Elton, of Delta, Ohio; Nicole Moreno, of Chicago, Illinois; great-nephews: Nathan, Reed and Alex and a “special grandson” AJ Sporer.
Paula was a 1964 graduate of Wauseon High School and after graduation she went to Davis Business College where she received her certification in coding which led to her career at Toledo Edison. She was a member of the Maumee United Methodist Church where she was an active member and enjoyed her time with the Elizabeth Circle and as a Sunday School teacher for the “Awesome God Sunday School Class” for individuals with special needs. Paula had many hobbies and interests throughout her life which included music, which truly enriched her life. Not only could she sing which led to her longtime membership with the Toledo Choral Society, but she was gifted in playing the piano, organ, trumpet and baritone. Paula also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, however she truly loved being around children, which led to her working at Children’s Discovery Center after her retirement from Toledo Edison. Paula was a very outgoing individual and didn’t know a stranger! She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Heartland Hospice, especially to Victoria and Lisa for their excellent care and compassion to Paula and her family.
Visitation for Paula will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of her Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 28, 2018 in the Maumee United Methodist Church 405 Sackett Street, Maumee, Ohio 43537. Interment will be held privately for the family in the Wood County Memory Gardens, Bowling Green, Ohio. Arrangements have been entrusted with the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1460 W. Wooster Street/P.O. Box 648 Bowling Green, Ohio 43402.
