Martha Hubbard Swilley

SIBLEY, LA- Funeral services for Martha Hubbard Swilley of Sibley, La. will be held at 11:00 AM Monday April 14, 2008 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden, La. Officiating will be Reverend Sam Shipp of Waskom, Texas. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family will receive friends and loved ones Sunday April 13, 2008 from 11 :00 AM till 8:00 PM.

Martha passed away peacefully April 10, 2008 at 12:25 PM at home following a lengthy illness surrounded by loved ones.

Born July 1, 1950 in Minden, La. Martha was the third child born to Willie A. & Mattie Hubbard.

Martha a homemaker lived her life helping others. She will always be remembered as a very caring, compassionate wife, mother, and friend. She had a great affection for animals especially her three dogs, her cat, and her horse Pistol that she dearly loved. Martha was a member of the National Barrel Horse Association competing in numerous competitions in which she won the Senior National Barrel Racing competition held In Augusta, Ga. In 2001.

Preceding Martha in death is her father, Willie A. Hubbard; mother, Mattie McLemore Hubbard; brother, Benny Creel Hubbard as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and her beloved dog, BR.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 25 years, James Swilley, beloved son, Kerry McBride and brother, Will Hubbard and wife, Judy of Bossier City. Also surviving is a host of additional family and friends and especially great nieces and nephews, who adored Aunt Martha.

Pallbearers will be Shane Hubbard, Cory Hubbard, Stacy Dart, DJ. Huffman, Jerry Swilley and Tommy Williams.

Honorary pallbearer will be Mickey Walker of Haughton, Louisiana.

The family wishes to express appreciation to all of the doctors who ministered to Martha over the years and a special thanks to Odyssey Hospice Care for their constant love and care for Martha during her illness.
