Born at High Gartloskan Farm, Kintyre, Scotland. Came to Chatham, Canada with family in 1875. After 8 years, rented a farm in Rockford, IL. Moved in February 1888 to Delhi Township. Rented a farm for one year then bought 160 acres in NW quarter of section 10 in Kintire Twp.
Married Elizabeth Ralston 10 January 1895 at her home by Roscoe, IL.
