Mr. Jackie Delano Cooper, age 81, of Murray, Kentucky died on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
Mr. Cooper was born on July 13, 1936 in Calloway County, Kentucky, to the late Chesley G. Cooper and Willie Spencer Cooper. Mr. Cooper retired from the Murray City Fire Department, having served as chief his last 10 years and then later retired as a Safety Officer with the New Orleans Public School System. Mr. Cooper was a member of the South Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and served his country as a Navy Veteran.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Kyoko Cooper; one sister, Christine Smotherman; three brothers, Leon Cooper, R.L. Cooper, and Hewlett Cooper.
Mr. Cooper is survived by one daughter, Jeanette LaRose of Murray, Kentucky; one son, Shawn Cooper of Murray, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Robert LaRose of Murray, Kentucky, Jennifer LaRose of Murray, Kentucky, and Christopher LaRose of Murray, Kentucky; and special friend, Mary Kathryn Starks of Murray, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the South Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pastor Kevin Penick and Rev. Robert Baker will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Friday, April 13, 2018 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home and on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 8-11 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home.
