Esther Louise Fifield, 98, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 9, 2018, Conroe, Texas. Esther was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, December 6, 1919 to her loving parents, Roy Harrison and Bessie Baylis Stancliffe. She is proceeded in death by her parents, her older brother Dr. Floyd Stancliffe of Montana, and her twin, loving sister and best friend, Eunice Eddy, of Nebraska. After graduating from High school, Esther and her sister were fortunate to attend Wayne State Teacher’s College. Here she excelled in English, Music and Home Economics. After graduation, she was given a job in Red Oak, Iowa, where she proceeded to teach all three subjects at the Local High School. Music was her passion and while directing a summer choir, a dashing young tenor caught her eye. On September 24, 1950, Esther married the love of her life, Stephen Warren Fifield, a budding young furniture store owner - Fifield’s Furniture. Raising their children, visiting grandchildren, supporting their community and fishing, were their favorite past times. They were happily married 48 years, until Steve’s untimely death in 1998. Esther gave her life to her Lord Jesus Christ at a very young age and throughout her life her desire was to spread his love and honor him. Most of the time you could find her volunteering in the community, encouraging others through Bible Studies, serving with “Christian Women’s Club”, teaching Sunday School or writing encouraging notes to those in sorrow, down trodden or ill. Esther never stopped her music. She directed the Methodist Church Choir, in Red Oak, for over 50 years, sang in several chorus groups and sextets and even in her 80’s & 90’s was found sing with the “Remember When Singers,” a senior adult choir, from West Conroe Baptist church, that toured the various nursing homes in the area. Esther is survived by her two children; Larry Fifield of Florida, and Sandra Edwards and Allan of Texas, five grandsons, Dr. Jeff Fifield and Lauren of Colorado, Dr. Justin Fifield of Massachusetts, Keith Edwards and Leah of Texas, Stephen Edwards and Lauren of Texas and Michael Edwards and Hailey of Oklahoma. Along with 5 Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. The Family of Esther would like to thank “Traditions Hospice Care,” for their loving attentiveness and whose service was never ending. To Nurse Tawny Evans, Nurse Vicky Presswood, Care Giver Adrian Simmons and Chaplin Marty Ballesteros; Thank you for being there to watch and care for Esther with such a loving spirit. More importantly they thank Teresa Drews, Susan Kirby and Stephanie Marino for their unconditional love and superb care, in Teresa’s Home Health Facility. You became our family! A celebration of Esther’s life will take place in Red Oak, Iowa, where she will be laid to rest.
