Born Nov. 22, 1934, in Belleville, he was the son of the late Charles Ernest Ernie Harmon and Violet Catherine Doll (Hancock) Harmon. On Sept. 16, 1951, he married his wife, Betty J. (Porter) Harmon.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: his children, Terry Chet Harmon, of Lewistown, Cheryl A. Harmon and partner, Brenda Fultz, of Milroy, Kimbra L. Freed and husband, James, of Belleville, and Michael S. Harmon and wife, Beth, of Belleville; a daughter-in-law, Betsy Harmon Morgan, of McVeytown; his brother, James Jim Harmon, and wife, Reba, of Belleville; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Larry served in the United States Air National Guard during the Korean War. He also owned and operated Harmons Service Station in Belleville for a number of years, along with his brother and nephew.
He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Belleville, Elks Lewistown Lodge No. 663, VFW Post 5935, Belleville, and the American Legion Post 107, Mount Union.
Larry was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, doing yard work and, most of all, spending time with his family, friends and grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Belleville, with Rev. Rosalie N. Smith officiating. His family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday. His burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery.
