Dessie Walters passed away at the Arbors in Marietta following a long battle with dementia. She was born on March 14, 1931 to Ark and Mattie Farnsworth Pryor. In 1947 she married Gilbert D Walters, son of William and Sarah Phelps Walters. She lived her entire life in the Dalzell area.

Dessie was a homemaker who enjoyed listening to and singing old country music. She raised a large garden every summer and preserved all she had grown with the help of her mother in law Sarah. During the winter months she made quilts for family and quilted for other people.

She is preceded in death by her husband Gilbert (2005),sons Gary (1947), Randy (2003) and Ronnie (2007), one grandson and one great granddaughter. She is also preceded in death by sisters Caroline, Deloris, Alberta, Bessie, Gladys and brothers Delmar and Ark 'Bud' as well as 11 half siblings.

Surviving are 4 sons, Roger & Gale of Dalzell, Russ (Sandell) and Dale of Marietta, daughters Donna (Randy) Krigbaum of Devola, Darlene (Jim) Fleeman of Lower Salem, daughters in law Evelyn Camden Walters of Lower Salem and Connie Walters Pitt of Conway Arkansas. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held April 19, 2018 with visitation beginning at 11am, service to be held at 1pm. Hospice pastor Willie Hood will conduct the service. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family at the Dalzell Cemetery.

Dessie's ashes were placed beside Gilbert's on April 22, 2018.
