Jimmy "Pete" Wells
1939-2018
Jimmy "Pete" Wells, 78, of Cypress, Texas passed away last week at his home.
He was born on August 13, 1939 in Natchitoches, Louisiana to George Willie Wells and Gladys Boyter Wells. He grew up in Pineville, Louisiana before moving to Nederland, Texas in the late 1950's.
Pete had lived in the Houston area for 52 years and was a United States veteran serving in the National Guard in Texas and Louisiana.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #5145 in Nederland and the Machinist Union.
Pete worked as a licensed barber before moving to Houston in 1965 where he began work with Cameron Iron Works and retired from Wyman Gordon as an iron worker in 2002 after 37 years of service.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 13, 2018 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend Dan Malain officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
A visitation for family and friends will be Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary DeVillier Wells of Groves, Texas and brother, Nolan Wells of Austin, Texas.
He is survived by his daughter, Teresa Denise Wells of Houston, Texas, brother, Douglas Wells and wife Linda of Austin, Texas, brothers and sisters in law, John and wife Barbara, Charles and wife Rosie, and Russ and wife Beth DeVillier, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
