George was the son of the late George B. and Georgia (Long) Bridgeman.

He was a self-employed carpenter. He was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran, where he was a WWII pilot, with the B-24 Liberators. He was one of the youngest pilots to complete thirty-five missions over Germany. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, with 5 Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star, and European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal. He was a member of the American Legion Marne Post 28, New Martinsville. He enjoyed many sports, and he loved watching Magnolia High School sports, WVU Mountaineers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Pittsburgh Steelers.

His memory is cherished by his wife, Sharon; mother of his children, Rose; daughters, Dawn, Brenda, Patty, and Amy; stepson, Michael; stepdaughter, Jane; sister, Mary; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William, John, and Robert Bridgeman.

George's family would like to thank his caretakers, Debbie, Charlene, and Jan.
