Portsmouth - Vivian S. Wyatt, 96, a lifelong resident of Portsmouth, entered heaven April 8. She was born May 1, 1921 to the late Daisy and Paschal Saunders. She was a gifted pianist, songwriter, bible teacher, and faithful wife to Rev. Damon E. Wyatt, former pastor of Sweethaven Baptist Church. She will best be remembered as a servant of God who used her talents to glorify Him and for her contagious, bubbly personality. Vivian taught Bible studies throughout Portsmouth and did so up until her 95th birthday. She was a pianist for various Christian organizations and guest speaker in many states. She was a voracious reader and self taught Bible scholar who spent hours studying God's word and sharing it with those seeking God's viewpoint.

She was predeceased by her husband of 74 years, Rev. Damon E Wyatt, and her brothers, Robert D. Saunders, Arthur E. Saunders and Harold R. Saunders of Tidewater. She is survived by her sister, Patricia Clark, a daughter, Dayna Austin (Jack), two grandsons, Dr. Jack (Trae) Shepherd (Emily) and Damon Wyatt Shepherd (Mary) and seven grandchildren, Ella, Lorien, Ian, Lucy, Molly, Heidi, and Finn. A private burial will be held at Churchland Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life service will be held May 11, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church, 2117 London Blvd., Portsmouth, VA, at 11:00 am.

The family would like to thank Jeanne Hill, her devoted niece, who spent countless hours caregiving and showing love in many ways and to Lucy Narkinsky and Adele Labudovich who remained faithful friends for decades.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gideon's International or Jewish Voice International. Loving Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
