The funeral service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, April 14, 2018, at the First Baptist Church with Pastor John Kermott officiating. After the service he will be cremated. Burial of cremains will be at a later date at Glasgow Cemetery.
Floyd was born on March 15, 1927, in Winfield, IA to Elmer and Frances (Young) Burns. He married Audrey “Aurelie” Blucher on August 9, 1946. Last year they celebrated 71 years of marriage. To this marriage was born Cheryl, Darrell and Stephen.
Floyd lived for 65 years in the Fairfield area. He worked as a machinist and was owner of Northside Bootery. Floyd was a member of the First Baptist Church and Gideon's. Some of his outside interests were fishing and gardening. He and Aurelie had a garden on the farm and in town and would share their produce with others. He was also an excellent cook and loved to share his baked goods. Floyd was known for his peanut brittle. Even to the end he had a hand in the kitchen making meals. He will be missed by those who called him husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa, brother, uncle and friend.
Left to share Floyd’s memories are his wife, Aurelie of Fairfield, IA; 3 children, Cheryl, Darrell and Stephen; 10 grandchildren, Sean, Cynthia , Christopher, Dacia, Scott, Kristi , Kelli, Jeff, Seth and Jared; 14 great grandchildren; 6 siblings, Robert Burns, Raymond (Eloise) Burns, Delbert (Karen) Burns, Ardythe (Skip) Gray, Colleen (Carl) Crow and Loretta (Nick) Crow; and numerous nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Frances; 4 siblings, Winona, Delores, Kendel and Charlotte; one grandchild, Bryce Burns; and one great grandchild, Atticus Burns.
