J. N. Allred Passes
Mr. J. N. Allred, a prominent farmer of the Caseyville community, died at his home there Sunday after an illness of some length. He was advanced in age. The funeral was announced for 4 p. m., Monday in the Ben Salem Presbyterian church of which he was a member, at Caseyville, interment to follow in the cemetery at the church. Surviving members of Mr. Allred's family are his devoted wife, a son, Mr. Grafton Allred, who with his family made his home at his father and mother's, a son, Mr. S. Allred of Texas and a number of grandchildren. Mrs. Ford Westbrook of this city is a niece of Mr. Allred, and she and other nieces and nephews were much attached to him, as were other relatives. Sympathy goes out to those bereaved.

Death of James N. Allred
James N. Allred, a prominent member of the community at Caseyville, died at his home there Sunday morning at 11 o'clock. He was 83 years old and had been an invalid for three years. He had been seriously ill for three weeks preceeding his death.
Mr. Allred was born in Copiah County, Jan. 24, 1856.
He married Miss Malessa Wright, step-daughter of the late Dr. E. R. Applewhite of Caseyville, sixty-three years ago.
Mr. Allred had been a church member for more than sixty-five years and had served in an official capacity the greater part of that time. In his invalidism, his thoughts turned to the study of God's word each Sunday at 11 o'clock, as this had been the hour through so many years, for him to enter the house of God for worship. It was noted that his death occurred as the chimes of the home clock sounded eleven.
The funeral service was conducted by Mr. Allred's pastor, Rev. J. M. Williams of Crystal Springs, assisted by Rev. R. E. Case of Caseyville and Rev. Cox of Collins, in Ben Salem Church, Presbyterian, at Caseyville Monday afternoon. Sacred music was furnished by Mrs. Jas. Ewing and a quartetter of young ladies of Wesson. Pall bearers were Messrs. Eugene Allred, Garland Smith, Ben P. Smith, Jr., Hubert Smith, grandsons, and Messrs. Solon Smith and Kelly Strait, grandsons-in-law of the dead.
Those left to mourn are Mr. Allred's devoted wife, two sons, Messrs. W. S. Allred of Abilene, Tex., and Grafton Allred of Caseyville,; and a niece of both Mr. and Mrs. Allred, Mrs. Fort Westbrook, of Brookhaven who came to make her home with them in early childhood. Her untiring efforts were a consolation to her uncle and his loved ones in his last days. There are seventeen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
