the fourth of Fred and Fern Davis of El Dorado Springs, Missouri. She passed away March 29, 2018 in Overland Park, Kansas.

“Jan” as she was commonly known, graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in May 1945 and went to work immediately at Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, Missouri. In August of 1946 she was married to Myrl Ellis of Stockton, Missouri. They were the parents of Mark Lee Ellis in June of 1957. During their entire marriage, Jan and Myrl were involved in their own business, one year in Jerico Springs, Missouri , four years in Humansville, Missouri and 25 years in Osceola, Missouri owning and operating the Western Auto store.

She was an active Eastern Star for over 30 years, holding mny offices including Worthy Matron and Worthy Grand Matron. She was the president of the Osceola PTA for two years and participated in other civic activities. After the sale of the Western Auto store Jan served as Deputy Recorder for St. Clair County for 18 months. She moved to Kansas City where she was employed at Childrens Mercy Hospital for 15 years as a medical secretary. Jan rested for a year and then worked for Little Sister of the Poor for five years as a medical records secretary retiring in December of 1999.

For recreation Jan loved to play bridge. She enjoyed cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church from 1956 until her death.

Jan was preceded in death by her son Mark Ellis; parents, Fred and Fern Davis; sisters Helen Bland, Thelma Lundy and Fern Harnage.

She is survived by two nieces, Debra Hammons of Columbia, Missouri and Janet Iams of Overland Park, Kansas; two nephews, Roland Lundy of Nashville, Tennessee and Davis Lundy of Chattanooga, Tennessee as well as several great nieces, great nephews and many, many friends.
