Funeral services for Bernard Alfred Boyd will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Jackson Chapel Church of Christ with Preachers Ricky Jackson and Earl Franks officiating. Burial will follow in Cooper Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10th at Jackson Chapel Church of Christ and will continue until the time of service on Wednesday.
Mr. Boyd was born on June 29, 1938, in Richland, VA and passed away on April 8, 2018, in Leesville, LA at the age of 79. He retired from the Army after many years of service including three tours in Vietnam. Mr. Boyd continued to work and eventually retired from Civil Services and AECOM at Fort Polk. He loved to garden and was a member of Jackson Chapel Church of Christ and the Masonic Lodge Rosepine Chapter.
Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Cecile Boyd; sons, Butch Highbaugh and Randy Lee Boyd; and sister, Anna Mae Tatum.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Billie Murray Boyd of Leesville, LA
Sons: Chuck Highbaugh and wife Jeanine of Leesville, LA; Mike Boyd and wife Stacie of Phenix City, AL; and Matthew Harter and wife Noelle of Leesville, LA
Daughters: Debbie Hundley and husband Woody of Leesville, LA; Tina Highbaugh of Colorado; Kim Perkins and husband Gomer of Leesville, LA; and Katie Spillers and husband William of Leesville, LA
Thirteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren
Brothers; Melvin Boyd of Bristol, TN; Glen Boyd of Bristol, TN; Freddy Boyd of Bluefield, VA; and Teddy Boyd of Bluefield, VA.
Sister, Barbara of Ohio
and a host of extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Harter, Daniel Highbaugh, Neil Gaunt Jr., Jeremy Gaunt, Travis Highbaugh, Austin Chandler, Robert Highbaugh, and Tim Keen.
