Tommy Lee Hale, 67, of Dickens, passed away Thursday evening April 5, 2018 at his home. Tom was born January 19, 1951 [in Crosby Co., TX] to Tommie and Doris Hale. He grew up in the Afton Community, graduated from Patton Springs High School, and attended South Plains College. He married Nancy [Jan] Bridge in [ 28 May] 1971 [in Afton, Dickens Co., TX] and would have celebrated 47 years of marriage this May.
Tom retired from Dickens Electric in 2000, and then pursued his passion for barbecuing which led to the purchase of T.C.’s Ponderosa. He made many friends through this venture and never met a stranger. He enjoyed life with his family and friends; together they made lots of memories hunting, fishing, and camping in the Colorado Mountains.
There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do once he talked someone into doing it for him. He was raised old school, and you always knew it when he looked you in the eye and gave you a firm handshake.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Those who will cherish his memory are his wife Nancy Hale, daughter Valerie [Anne] Smithey and husband Brian, son [Cory] Dillion Hale and wife Kenzie, grandson Luke Smithey; great nephew Kylar Talley; and brother Dave Hale and Sheree. He also leaves a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews that were a big part of his life.
A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 P.M. Friday April 13, 2018 at the Dickens County Senior Citizens with Rev. Kenny Porter officiating.
Honorary pallbearers are Bob Forbis, Craig Forbis, James Parker, Larry Taylor, Ricky West, Mike Marshall, Kevin Marshall, and Jack Marshall.
Memorials are suggested to Dickens County Senior Citizens, Dickens County EMS, Dickens Fire Department, and Patton Springs Ralph Marshall Memorial Fund.
