Fort Collins – Thomas J. Hinshaw was born May 6, 1929 in Nederland, Colo., and died April 5, 2018 at Center Health and Rehab in Fort Collins.

Tom dedicated his life to the Air Force and Air National Guard starting in the year of 1947. He served stateside for the Colorado Air National Guard as a radar chief during the Korean war and in early in 1963, became a liaison officer installing a radar system for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Longmont, Colo. Tom’s squadron moved to Greeley in 1963 and he subsequently became a communications officer at Buckley Airfield in Aurora, Colo., in 1970, retiring in 1977.

Tom met Gladys Juanita “Nita” Kennedy while both were stationed at Lockland Air Force base in San Antonio, Texas. Tom and Nita married Dec 17, 1952 and had two children Tom Jr. and Kathy.

Preceding in death were Tom’s parents Thomas and Anne Hinshaw, sister Betty Anne, son Thomas Brian Hinshaw and his dearly beloved wife “Nita”. Survived by daughter Kathy and grandson Derek Brannon.

A burial service will be held Saturday, April 14, 2pm at the Roselawn Cemetery with a future memorial service to be announced. --Allnutt Funeral Service
