Amy Ruth Johnson Perry, 55, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News, after a courageous battle with Leukemia. Born in Bertie County, NC, February 25, 1959, Amy was the daughter of Roger D. Johnson and the late, Pauline Hall Johnson. She had resided in Smithfield since 1982 . Amy pursued a career in nursing and at the time of her death was the personnel director of Virginia Health Services. A beloved and devoted daughter, wife, mother, and sister, Amy was always supportive of her husband, Joey L. Perry, and her children, Lauren Thomas Perry and Nicholas Reid Perry, both of Smithfield. Upmost and foremost, Amy put the care and concerns of others before her own. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Johnson Daughtry, and her husband, Donald, of Rich Square, NC, her brother, Donald Keith Johnson, and his wife, Deborah, of Franklin, VA, and brother-in-law, Jerry Wayne Perry, and his wife, Georgia, of Elizabeth City, NC; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of extended family. A service celebrating Amy's life will be held 11 am, Friday, September 26, 2014, in Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, with Rev. O.H. Burton officiating. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Memorial Park. Family and friends will gather 6-8 pm, Thursday, September 25, in the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to Isle of Wight Relay For Life, c/o Pam Jordan, 18214 Farmview Lane, Windsor, VA 23487 or to the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society @ Donate.lls.org. Arrangements are in the care of Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield.
