Ms. Ashley Sanders age 28 of the Rome Community was pronounced dead at the scene of a single vehicle automobile accident at approximately 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon May 13, 2012 on Big Springs Road a short distance from the intersection of Big Springs Road and Carthage Highway (U.S.70).

Funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home were conducted Wednesday morning May 16th at 11 a.m. by her pastor Bro. Wayne Malone. Private interment was Friday afternoon May 18th at 1 p.m. in the Jenkins family lot at Bethlehem Cemetery at Tuckers Cross Roads.

Born Ashley Nichole Sanders at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville on March 29, 1984, she was one of three daughters of Donnie Newell Sanders and Barbara Sue Hawkins Sanders of Rome.

A sister, Stacey Renea Sanders died at birth on October 20, 1976.

She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Paul and Jean McGuire Hawkins and Johnny David and Delia Jenkins Sanders and a step-grandfather, Elmer Wilson.

Ms. Sanders was a 2002 graduate of Smith County High School and graduated in December 2011 from the John A. Gupton College of Mortuary Science in Nashville.

She was a member of the Rome Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her parents is her sister, Amy Plumlee and husband Kevin and their daughter Kailey of Rome.
