Dana Lynn Harrington
July 16, 1953 to February 28, 2018
Dana Lynn Harrington left this world on February 28, 2018, at age 64. We are rejoicing that Lewy Bodies Dementia no longer plagues him and that he is with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Dana left behind many family members who will miss him dearly; especially his beloved wife, Cathy Knight Harrington and son, Terrell Harrington, along with the two children of his heart; Scott Athey with wife Dana Lockett Athey, and Lorie Athey Rocha with husband Rudy C. Rocha. Dana’s two grandchildren, Haileigh Athey and Maverick Rocha, also grieve his loss.

In addition, his older sister Belinda Harrington Cockrell and husband, Paul(Bill) William Cockrell mourn Dana’s passing; along with their four children, fifteen great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. Included in missing him is Dana’s wife’s family; brother-in-law Don Hagemann, sister-in-law Kristie Knight Carpenter, and all of their family members.

Dana’s parents, John J and Pauline Harrington are welcoming him to heaven; along with his grandparents, uncles, aunts, sister-in-law Joanne Knight Hagemann, and brother-in-law, H. Michael Knight.

Dana was born in Atlanta, Texas, but was raised in the Spring Branch area of Houston. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1972 and worked as an aircraft mechanic, a job he was especially good at and for which he received many commendations. He was stationed in South Korea, England, and at Bergstrom AFB, but was injured and released from the Air Force with disability in 1986. He then attended college and obtained his airframe and powerplant license at the top of his class. This allowed him to work for Continental Airlines and NASA doing air craft repair. His Air Force injuries forced his retirement in 1991.

Dana also volunteered his time, as he was able, with the Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Mayde Creek Elementary, Girl Scout Equestrian Center, and Civil Air Patrol. He was a member or the DAV, VFW, and American Legion. Favorite hobbies included riding his beloved motorcycles as well as play djembes and other percussion in the band known as Loky.

Dana was most recently a member of the Kingwood Church of Christ, and had been a part of the Brenham Church of Christ for several years. He had a beautiful tenor voice, which he used in service to God by singing on the praise team and at nursing homes. He never knew a stranger and was always greeting people with a beautiful smile and friendly handshake. His love, joy and care for people shined clearly through him, as did his love for God. He will be deeply missed, but we know he is on to new adventures in his eternal, heavenly home.

Dana’s funeral will be an informal affair. Feel free to bring photos and memories to share. We will be celebrating his life on Friday, March 2nd, 2018. Visitation will be from 4p-6p with the funeral following immediately afterwards from 6p-7p. It will be held in an outdoor courtyard at Darst Funeral Home located at 796 Russell Palmer Rd,

Kingwood, TX 77339
281-312-5656

Dana will be returned to the place of his birth in Atlanta, Texas with a small graveside burial for family and friends on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at 2pm in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
Rather than flowers, the family requests donations be made to: SE TX Alzheimer’s Association.
