Merle is a son of Leo Lawrence (aka Lawrence Lee) Adams and Clara Almeda Dabell. He married Leona Marjorie Pugmire on May 9, 1938 in Tooele, Utah.

From The Ogden Standard-Examiner (Ogden, UT) - Monday, June 7, 1954: Merle Adams, 35-year-old Salt laker, died this morning in Marsh Valley Hospital. Adams was injured when his car failed to make a turn on U.S. Highway 91 south of Swan Lake last Friday and rolled over several times. It landed in a field with Adams pinned beneath the car.

From The Daily Herald (Provo, UT) 0 Tuesday, June 8, 1954: Investigating officer said Adams' car skidded some 164 feet before rolling over three times. Adams is survived by his widow, a daughter, and his mother, all at Salt Lake City.
